Not every boot is a good fit for all positions. Those in the back row would have a preference towards a lighter boot, with forwards needing something that will give them better grip in order to have the most power whilst scrummaging.

Life in the front 5 is all about power. Whether protecting the possession, winning the ball back or gaining ground towards the tri-line, power is vital as a forward. In order to have as much power as possible, you need a boot that gives you as much traction as possible, regardless of what surface you are playing on.

Front 5 boots often feature long metal studs for traction in scrummaging, but are also lightweight so you can still react quickly. Durability is also key with lots of pressure being on the boots throughout the game.

Players in the back value speed and agility. These are the positions where the points are scored making a good boot vital for success. The boots worn in these positions are also designed for kicking, whether that be a conversion or a grubber. A backs boot needs to be lightweight and provide a lot of grip, with a snug fit to help whilst kicking. At Rugby Heaven we have a selection of boots from Mizuno, Under Armour, and adidas that are perfect for backs.

A pack rugby boot is a great all-rounder. They offer a mixture of traction, durability, and lightness making them a perfect choice for anyone who plays in the front 5 or the back row. At Rugby Heaven we have a range of boots from Mizuno, Canterbury, and adidas that are the perfect choice for anyone in the pack.

The back row needs a boot that is lightweight for speed but is also durable to protect their feet during tough games. A backs boot should offer a secure fit and feel sturdy underfoot, ideally with some protection on the upper. Speed and agility are important in the back row, and the boots for these positions are designed in that way.
