Rugby World Cup

With the 2011 Rugby World Cup held in New Zealand now a distant memory, the countdown has already begun to England hosting the most prestigious tournament in international rugby in 2015.

Only four countries have held aloft the Webb Ellis trophy with England being the only victorious northern hemisphere nation, compared to two World Cup wins for New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Although originating only as far back as 1987, the World Cup tournament is now one of the largest international sporting events in the world.

The 2011 World Cup saw the New Zealand All Blacks finally achieve their potential on home soil with the support of a nation behind them. There was heartbreak for Wales narrowly losing out in the semi-finals whilst Tonga came close to progressing from the group stages having already beaten eventual finalists France.
